Thank you for your interest in Bow House. The earliest extant bowed roof cape was built in 1678.

At Bow House we have a love of Colonial architecture and a desire to keep the building traditions and quality of that era alive. Through extensive research we have developed an Architectural Package [link to that page] that we consider a museum-quality reproduction of the original homes.

Bow House produces Museum Quality home building kits, custom designed to suit your lifestyle and needs.  We have built over 425 homes, from Quebec to California, and when completed, our customers enjoy a faithful reproduction of a 300 year old Bowed roof cape. To date, no two houses have been designed with the same floor plan or exterior, and square footage has ranged from 700 to 7,000.

We have people who thought that, in going into a Bow House, they were in an antique house. We have achieved this through extensive historical research to determine what materials the Colonials had to work with, and making them or having them made for us.

For example, we make our own doors. The interior doors have the dimensions and style of the 18th century, the exterior doors have thick panels consonant with the period. Lumber yard doors used in less meticulous construction are representative of the 19th century.

The purpose of Bow House is to function first as a designer to customize the house to your needs, and second as a lumber yard, specializing in custom materials. What we give you is a home with the appearance of an old house while having all of today's amenities.
